Recycling
Find out more about how easy it is and how you can really make a difference. Discover the positive effect recycling efforts are making.
Recycling Conserves Resources
When we recycle, used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources. If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth, through mining and forestry. Recycling helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future.
Recycling saves energy
Using recycled materials in the manufacturing process uses considerably less energy than that required for producing new products from raw materials – even when comparing all associated costs including transport etc. Plus there are extra energy savings because more energy is required to extract, refine, transport and process raw materials ready for industry compared with providing industry-ready materials.
Recycling helps protect the environment
Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change. Current UK recycling is estimated to save more than 18 million tonnes of C02 a year – the equivalent to taking 5 million cars off the road.
Recycling reduces landfill
When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites reduces. There are over 1,500 landfill sites in the UK, and in 2001, these sites produced a quarter of the UK's emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. By keeping WEEE separate from other waste it can be treated, the hazardous substances can be removed and a large amount of waste can be recycled rather than sent to landfill.
WEEE "Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment"
What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (2006 No. 3289) (WEEE) is a new UK legislation designed to address the environmental impact of waste electrical and electronic equipment
The regulations have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection
Both Heading Limited and our customers can assist in recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment
We cannot recycle it unless you return it, so our customers have an important role to play in helping us to recycle
How do I recycle my old products?
  • It means that you can return waste electrical equipment to Heading when you are purchasing a new product from us under our distributor obligations*
  • When you have finished with a WEEE product, please do not put in your domestic waste bin, as it will not be recycled.
  • Please contact us at recycle@headingonline.com to arrange a convenient time for you to deliver the old item back to us.
  • Please quote your Heading SKU (order code) and describe the item that is to be recycled.
  • Please carefully package any item to avoid transit damage.
  • We will then deal with the waste product in an environmentally responsible manner.

*It has to be like for like (e.g. a laptop for a laptop, not a TV for a laptop).

    Product marking
Weee Recycling : HEADING All electrical items covered by these regulations have symbol : ‘crossed out wheeled bin symbol’. This symbol helps to identify which products are recyclable (or should be considered for repair or reuse).
Please help us to minimise the effect we all have on the environment by recycling your waste electrical and electronic products.

    Waste Batteries and Accumulators
    Batteries Directive
The regulations have been put in place to ensure that products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection.
    What customers can do?
Batteries placed in the household waste are not recycled and would continue to pollute the environment. Via sending back your waste batteries, they can be treated and recycled in accordance with the directive.
We are assisting in recycling batteries.
